With over 700 delegates each day and a record of 53 exhibiting organisations this year's Scottish Offshore Wind + Supply Chain event was the largest and most successful to date. The conference and networking exhibition included a mixture of plenary sessions, workshop style discussions, presentations and quick fire updates. For Osiris Projects, the event allowed us to showcase our continued involvement in Scottish offshore wind. Our next event is Oceanology International at ExCeL in March, we look forward to seeing you there.

Osiris Projects are to exhibit at the Scottish Renewables Offshore Wind & Supply Chain Conference at the end of the month. With some 500 delegates from across the sector, its supply chain and supporting agencies, this is Scotland’s biggest, best and most important offshore wind event, taking place from the 31^st January -1^st February at the AECC, Aberdeen. The first Hydrographic Society UK North West region networking event of 2012 is organised for Thursday 19th January, 7pm-10pm at the Liverpool Marina Bar & Grill, where guests will enjoy a complementary buffet, a presentation from Osiris Projects, and of course, the opportunity to mingle with others within the industry. Osiris Projects are pleased to be assisting The Hydrographic Society UK with the regeneration of the North West region community, and we hope to organise a number of networking events for THS members, prospective members and students during 2012. Mike Caraher is a surveyor with 13 years experience, latterly working at director level in the offshore and coastal surveying environment. Mike has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Osiris Projects, originally working with us on a variety of coastal survey projects as a specialist sub-contractor. We are extremely pleased to welcome Mike into the company as Project Manager. Mike is currently taking part in "Movember" along with other Osiris Projects employees to raise awareness of and funds for prostate cancer. TenneT Offshore, the fellow subsidiary of the electricity transmission system operator TenneT TSO, awarded Osiris Projects a contract to supply a series of detailed cable route surveys related to offshore wind farm sites in the German Bight region. The work included detailed geophysical surveys, ROV inspection surveys and shallow geotechnical investigations; making use of the company’s recently expanded geotechnical capabilities.

The surveys were carried out along a total of 14 proposed cable routes for both existing and proposed wind farms, and a single proposed platform location.  The firm’s newly completed specialist semi-SWATH catamaran Bibby Tethra took the lead on the project, supported by geotechnical engineers from Chester-based Geotechnics Ltd, aboard MV Poseidon.

Osiris Projects continues to grow, and we now employ over fifty full time staff.

Another successful event from RenewableUK, Offshore Wind 2011 attracted 167 exhibitors and more than 2,500 delegates to the ACC Liverpool. It was announced that next years event, to be held at ExCeL London, will take an International focus with the aim of developing the UK as a pioneer for offshore wind globally. Osiris Projects' next major event is Offshore Europe in September, where we will be exhibiting on stand 1C49

The Wave and Tidal 2011 event earlier this week was a great success, well organised and enjoyed by all, especially us here at Osiris Projects.  

Following our most recent progress meeting in Boulogne last week, the vessel is on track for equipment and machinery commissioning in March and sea-trials throughout April.

Over 450 government and industry professionals will attend the 8th annual RenewableUK wave and tidal event, to be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London.  Visit Osiris Projects at stand 16.  

During November 2010 the hull was floated and towed from St.Malo to Boulogne for final fit out. To date the conventional running gear, gearboxes and survey pump jet units have all been installed and commissioning remains on course for an April 2011 delivery. Further modifications to the already extensive list of permanently mounted survey sensors will ensure that the vessel meets and exceeds the highest levels of client expectation.

So far in 2010, Osiris Projects have successfully acquired over 12,000 line kilometres of geophysical data on wind farm sites between the Moray Firth (Beatrice 1,900km and Outer Moray 5,740km) and the English Channel (Rampion 4,800km). This brings the total line kilometres acquired by Osiris Projects on wind farm sites alone to over 50,000 line kilometres since 2002. During this time we have been involved in almost every major wind farm development at various stages from reconnaissance, pre construction, UXO detection, installation support, post construction to continual monitoring surveys

Osiris Projects have continued to invest in the latest technology and 2010 has seen a Reson 7101, Reson 7125 SV, Applanix POS MV 320, Sonardyne Scout USBL (x2), GeoResouces GeoSpark, Applied Acoustics Engineering CSP1200D, Geometrics G882 Marine Magnetometer, CODA DA2000, C-Nav 3050 dGPS, Leica GX1230+ GNSS SMARTNET RTK, all added to the already extensive list of equipment owned by Osiris Projects. Continual software investment in the latest CODA products, QPS QINSy and OASIS UXO Detect software, coupled with equipment and major vessel investment, has ensured that we continue to offer a high level of service and product delivery to our extensive client base.

The shipyard in France is making excellent progress and we now have something that is starting to resemble the form of a very complex catamaran. The hull and superstructure is currently being built in St Malo and in October the complete shell will be towed up the coast to Boulogne. All of the main equipment is now on order, including permanently installed survey sensors. TETHRA is due for delivery early April 2011 and will go straight to work in the UK Renewable Energy market. TETHRA will provide an unparalleled capability in coastal survey, bringing large vessel stability, Dynamic Positioning (DP1), diesel electric economy, ultra high resolution survey sensors, all round efficiency, and very comfortable working environment and small port accessibility together in a single package.
